- ➤ Rep. Gallop Franklin delivered a keynote address on Jan. 14 at the Judge Augustus D. - ➤ FSU faculty say new Florida Board of Governors rules on CoreFSU courses cut key classes — including renamed courses—and restrict teaching on historical topics, sparking concerns that changes may hurt student learning as legislators plan to review university requirements. FSU News

- ➤ A strong cold front will drop subfreezing temperatures across Florida as many counties face freeze watches from Thursday evening through Friday morning. In Tallahassee, residents can expect the temperature to fall to 26 degrees today. Tallahassee Democrat

- ➤ City Commissioners approved an MOU with FSU yesterday to transfer city-owned hospital assets for an academic health center that will enhance local care. FSU will invest $109 million over 30 years & $250 million by 2034, and a final public hearing is set for March 11 at City Hall. Florida State University
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Florida State star Peter Warrick was named to the College Football Hall of Fame from a national ballot. He is the 10th FSU player inducted as part of the 2026 class that will be honored in December. WCTV
- ➤ Florida State hired veteran special teams coach Adam Scheier as its new coordinator on Monday in Tallahassee. Scheier brings 24 years of experience and will improve team play — head coach Mike Norvell announced the decision. Tallahassee Reports
- ➤ Tallahassee State women’s basketball won their home opener against defending champion Northwest Florida State on Saturday, and coach Chelsea Waters says the team is focused ahead of their conference game versus Pensacola State at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday. WCTV
- ➤ FAMU men's basketball beat Grambling State 91-84 on Monday night as former head coach Patrick Crarey returned to Tallahassee; the win moved the Rattlers to a 2-1 record in SWAC play. WCTV
- ➤ In Tuesday's boys basketball games across the Big Bend, Crossroad Academy beat unbeaten Lincoln 54-47 while Munroe defeated Blountstown 82-61. WCTV
- ➤ FSU defenders Heather Gilchrist and Mimi Van Zanten signed NWSL contracts+ becoming the first players from their 2025 championship team. They will debut for Bay FC and San Diego Wave on March 13. FSU News
