- ➤ The Northwest Florida Water Management District issued a Water Shortage Warning on Wednesday, urging residents in Leon, Jefferson, and Wakulla counties to reduce water use + limit landscape irrigation to early morning or evening hours as drought conditions persist. Officials say these voluntary measures will help protect dwindling water supplies amid above-normal temperatures and below-normal rainfall through April. WFSU
- ➤ UF IFAS experts warned on Friday, Feb. 13 that eight invasive plants sold in retail centers—including Lantana (toxic to pets) and Pothos—could harm local gardens and displace native species in Florida. They advise gardeners to verify plant origins before purchase. Tallahassee Democrat

- ➤ Florida flags will fly at half-staff today for Marjory Stoneman Douglas Remembrance Day, as Gov. DeSantis ordered that flags be lowered on state and local buildings from sunrise to sunset + a moment of silence is planned at 10:17 a.m. to honor the 17 lives lost. Tallahassee Democrat
- ➤ A new traffic light at Thomasville & Velda Dairy will become operational on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 10 a.m. and will permanently close the left turn lane onto Ox Bottom Road; the installation is part of the Ox Bottom Meadows project and has shifted nearby bus stops. Tallahassee Democrat

- ➤ Champion Women filed a Title IX complaint against FSU on Jan. 19, alleging that the athletic department provided fewer scholarships, resources and facilities for women compared with men.
