  • Children’s Week Florida 2026 will run from Feb. 22 to 27 at the state capitol and nearby Tallahassee areas, welcoming thousands including legislators, children’s advocates, teachers & students to join the week-long celebration.  WCTV
  • New metal plaques now line the walkway at Speed Spencer Stephens Park to honor the Bond community’s legacy from the 1920s - '80s. Neighbors and city staff celebrated the markers at a Feb. 20 ceremony as part of the Greater Bond Neighborhood First Plan.  Tallahassee Democrat

  • Sidiki Conde, a celebrated African drummer who overcame polio, will offer a free concert at FSU’s College of Music on Friday, Mar. 6 at Lindsay Recital Hall (featuring Abdoulaye Toure and Tallahassee’s Ayoka Afrikan Drum and Dance).  Florida State University
  • Brazilian DJ Beltran headlined at Potbelly’s on Friday — his sold-out performance continued Tallahassee’s rising trend of top international DJs energizing the college scene.  FSU News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • FAMU-FSU College of Engineering Associate Professor Shreyas Balachandran got an Early Career Award of $875,000 over five years from the DOE (ARDAP Program) to build smaller particle accelerators that use new materials instead of heavy cooling. His work aims to make science tools more practical for labs, hospitals and factories.  Florida State University
  • MagLab Open House is set for today and welcomes visitors of all ages to explore the science center (with hands-on exhibits planned).  WCTV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials and FSU finalized a $1.7 billion agreement to transfer hospital assets with planned upgrades and research enhancements by Dec. 2034. A public hearing will be held March 11 at 9 a.m. for final board approval.  WCTV

  • The FSU Business of Healthcare Summit, held last week, brought healthcare leaders together to discuss wait times, AI improvements & federal funding to enhance rural access. FSU also previewed future job fairs and new research centers aimed at boosting local care.  Florida State University

  • Former FSU star Rashad Greene (record-setting receiver) joined Lincoln High School as its new wide receivers coach on Friday, Feb.20, adding his extensive experience to a program known for producing top collegiate talent.  Tallahassee Democrat
  • FSU fans can view over 1,500 Bobby Bowden memorabilia items online as Wiregrass Auction Group hosts the auction from Mar. 3 at 8 a.m. until Mar. 17; it features his championship trophy, rings, and his home with open houses on Mar. 5 (1–7 p.m.) and Mar. 16 (3–7 p.m.).  Tallahassee Democrat
  • FSU baseball, coming off a 3-0 start, traveled to Arlington for the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series from Feb. 20 to 22. Coach Link Jarrett said the team will face Michigan, Auburn, and Nebraska at Globe Life Field (home of the Texas Rangers) to test their pro-caliber skills.  FSU News
