  • FSU students and celebrity stars perform Shakespeare's The Tempest nightly as part of a free, four-day festival at Cascades Park running from Feb. 19 to today. Tallahassee residents can also enjoy a one-hour adaptation of The Winter's Tale by The Bardlings on Feb. 21 and today.  FSU News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Florida State freshman Jasen Lopez — nicknamed J-Rock — began playing basketball at his early practice on Jan. 8 and will join the football program in March after the season ends, following guidance from coaches Loucks and Norvell.  FSU News
  • FSU is launching campus expansion with new dorms, a dining hall, and a parking garage on the northwest side starting soon; dorm construction begins March 1 and should finish by fall 2028, while the parking garage starts April 1 and completes by May 2027.  FSU News
  • FSU's National MagLab welcomed nearly 8,000 families on Saturday in South Tallahassee as visitors experimented with powerful scientific equipment at its annual open house aimed at inspiring young scientists.  ABC 27

  • The Mental Health Council of the Big Bend hosts a men's mental health event called Maintaining MoMENtum in Tallahassee to support open discussion on wellness and show that vulnerability is strength.  WCTV

  • FSU baseball lost 8-5 to Auburn on Saturday at Globe Life Field in Arlington (Texas) after surrendering a four-run lead. The Seminoles will play Nebraska today at 3:30 p.m. in the final game of the series.  Tallahassee Democrat
  • Crossroad Academy's boys hoops team advanced to state semifinals after beating Port St. Joe 63-57 in their new gym before a sold-out crowd.  WCTV
  • On Saturday, Feb. 21, the Godby Cougars hosted the Fort Walton Beach Vikings in the FHSAA 4A regional semifinals at the Cougar Den in Tallahassee; the game included a halftime jersey retirement for former star Quan Jackson (a 2016 graduate who helped win a state championship).  Tallahassee Democrat
