  • A Leon County mobile home park will offer rent abatement to affected residents from Feb. 1 to 6 after nearly a week without water while Florida Sun Estates agreed to reimburse $33,000 in emergency services & will set up a repayment plan.  WCTV
  • Florida Sun Estates 2 LLC (the mobile home park operator) agreed to repay Leon County $33,000 after a winter water outage left residents without service from Jan. 31 to Feb. 6; county staff will work with the company to set up a payment plan.  ABC 27

HEALTH NEWS

  • Enrollment in religious cost sharing ministries is rising in Florida as more patients seek affordable alternatives amid high health premiums and changing coverage. Research shows that these plans offer fewer consumer protections and a proposed bill to regulate them stalled in the House before the legislative session ended today.  WFSU Public Media

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Tallahassee city and county leaders broke ground on a Community Land Trust development on Wallis Street to build 17 affordable homes for income-eligible families, seniors and veterans in South City. The project will take about 18 months and is set to become Leon County's largest affordable housing initiative.  ABC 27

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Friday, Mar. 13, Florida State held its first spring practice with linebackers shining in pad drills as coach Mike Norvell noted significant improvements. Chris Jones led the group as new coaching refined speed + tracking for a better season.  Tallahassee Democrat
  • FSU basketball, led by first-year coach Luke Loucks, nearly upset top-ranked Duke before falling 80-79 on March 12 in the ACC tournament quarterfinals.   • Florida State Club Ice Hockey won its first CHS Division 3 title by winning three games in three days after an eight-game spring slump yesterday. The FSU team, led by tournament MVP Matthew Silliman, will play at the CHS All-Star Game in Nashville on April 17.  FSU News
  • Florida State men’s basketball season ended with an 80-79 loss to Duke on March 12 in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals. Coach Luke Loucks praised the team’s resilience after a last-second shot fell short during a game marked by close play and a 12-0 run by Duke.  FSU News
