- ➤ After heated debate on Tuesday, Leon County commissioners voted 4 to 3 against asking committees to review federal proposals to develop the Apalachicola National Forest—opponents said the plan to use the land for affordable housing raised concerns over rising costs and loss of recreational areas. - ➤ Planners from Tallahassee and Leon County have proposed changes to the comprehensive plan to allow more housing per acre and limited expansion into rural areas to help meet the forecasted need for over 23,000 homes by 2050.
