  • Nearly 400 people will come together on Saturday at the Canteens and Camo event for a night of dancing, food, and bidding—celebrating the lifesaving work of the Red Cross—and to support local charities.  WCTV
  • The 5th Annual Panacea Craft Beer and Oyster Festival will be held tomorrow at Woolley Park on Dickerson Bay in Wakulla County and will run from noon to 4 p.m. Visitors can enjoy free oyster and arts and crafts booths as well as a ticketed beer festival with unlimited samples—an effort to raise funds to revitalize Panacea—while local food trucks, vendors and music add to the event's festive atmosphere.  Tallahassee Democrat

  • A pedestrian died on Capital Circle NW after stepping onto the roadway in the dark and being hit first by a pickup truck then by another vehicle—both drivers stayed to speak with officers.  Tallahassee Democrat

  • Sitar player Anoushka Shankar will make her debut at Opening Nights at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall on March 23 at 7:30 p.m., performing tracks from a trilogy of mini-albums created during the lockdown to express her vulnerable feelings. Tickets are available at $65 and $85.  Tallahassee Democrat

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Alva Smith, a teacher and Leon County School Board member, was named one of Tallahassee’s 25 Women You Need to Know for 2025—she led a $30,000 book drive that provided over 3,000 books to 13 Title I schools. She also serves as executive director for the Tallahassee Bar Association and has donated a kidney to extend someone’s life.  Tallahassee Democrat
  • On Wednesday, a House panel unanimously approved a bill that would repeal a law keeping details on presidential candidates secret and change how state colleges choose leaders—adding term limits for board members and removing confirmation requirements. The measure comes amid several recent changes in presidential appointments at state universities and colleges.  Tallahassee Reports

  • Yesterday, a new Haitian restaurant called Choublak—formerly Tally Gourmet—opened at Railroad Square Food Hall and offered dishes like griot, legume, and tasso turkey to bring authentic Haitian cuisine to Tallahassee. The restaurant operates Monday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.  Tallahassee Democrat

  • FSU women’s golf team is set to end the regular season with a home match at Seminole Legacy Golf Club today at 8:45 a.m., building on a historic winning streak led by top amateurs Lottie Woad and Mirabel Ting.
