- ➤ LeMoyne Arts opened the 38th Mahaska Whitley Student Exhibition on March 6, where 129 young artists from Leon County showed a range of art to nearly 300 local visitors. The exhibit at LeMoyne Arts Gallery runs until April 5—featuring award winners with $7,100 in scholarships and gift cards for art supplies. Tallahassee Democrat
- ➤ Former FSU coach Sue Semrau is building a team by uniting nonprofits & churches with local groups around the Big Bend to fight homelessness in Tallahassee. Leon County Commissioner Brian Welch said local leaders must provide safe housing and targeted services to help those in need. WFSU

- ➤ Starting April 8, Florida Mega Millions tickets will cost $5 and include a built-in multiplier that boosts non-jackpot prizes by 2X to 10X—jackpots will reset at $50 million and grow faster with improved odds. The final drawing for the current game is on April 4, and tickets bought before that will pay according to the old rules. Tallahassee Democrat

- ➤ Today, the North Florida Wildlife Center in Lamont received nearly 30 straw-colored fruit bats from the Jacksonville Zoo and director Ryan Reines said the bats are threatened in the wild. Visitors can learn about the colony as the center welcomes guests Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. WCTV

- ➤ Tallahassee International Airport will receive a $2 million grant from the Florida Department of Transportation for a new 40,000-square-foot International Processing Facility that will include a U.S. Customs and Border Protection approved port-of-entry for both commercial air and general aviation. The City Commission approved the matching grant, and the new terminal will support international flights and freight while helping to create over 1,600 jobs. ABC 27
- ➤ House Speaker Daniel Perez said Wednesday he plans to lower the state’s sales-tax rate from 6% to 5.25% permanently—he directed Ways & Means Chairman Wyman Duggan to draft a bill next week. Perez tied the tax cut proposal to measures to reduce state spending—recently, the House unanimously overrode four of Governor DeSantis’ budget vetoes. Tallahassee Reports
