Good morning, Tallahassee.
At 11:10 a.m., a crash involving a semi truck and a car near mile marker 200 at the Monroe Street interchange closed both eastbound lanes on I-10 and backed up traffic to mile marker 197—officials said the semi driver was injured but not in danger while the truck cab caught fire and sand trucks are on scene for a diesel spill.
On Saturday, thousands gathered along Monroe Street for the 57th annual Springtime Grand Parade in Tallahassee, which showcased colorful floats, traditional dances and performances from local schools plus a 10k run that kicked off spring celebrations.
Tallahassee native Micahi Danzy won his first outdoor 400-meter race at FSU's Terry Long Relays on Friday with a time of 46.03.
The dual athlete also finished second in the 4x400 relay—he splits his time between football and track at FSU.
Coach Tony White let his Seminoles defense play in Saturday’s spring scrimmage—where players made key plays like pick-sixes and interceptions—that gave clear teaching moments for the new system.
White said the performance shows his players are buying into the new play style and ready to build on the system.
Florida State wide receiver Duce Robinson transferred from USC and worked hard during recent spring practices—coach Mike Norvell and offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn set high expectations for him to refine his skills.
He focused on finishing plays and using his 6-foot-6 frame to boost his physicality as he prepares for upcoming fall games.
FSU junior golfer Lottie Woad will defend her Augusta National Women’s Amateur title as the tournament begins on April 2 at Champions Retreat in Evans — she will face top contenders including teammate Mirabel Ting after winning last year with a 15-foot birdie putt that boosted her to world number one, and the event will conclude with a final round at Augusta National on April 5. Rounds will be broadcast on Golf Channel and NBC Sports App.
A Saturday media tour showed that renovations on the west side of Doak Campbell Stadium include new club seats, updated concourses, enhanced video boards, and an expanded equipment tunnel—details that will improve the gameday experience ahead of the 2025 season.
Construction crews will work around the clock to finish the updates by July so the stadium can host 60,000 to 70,000 fans at the season kickoff against Alabama.
Florida State football held its first spring scrimmage on Saturday—offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn ran 100 plays with 60 running and 40 passing to check the players and build a simple game plan for the team.
