- ➤ Tallahassee's Chain of Parks Art Festival drew record crowds as more than 150 local artists showcased work with live music, food and drink — organizers estimated over 42,000 attendees, surpassing last year's turnout amid ideal festival weather. WFSU Public Media
- ➤ FSU students combine art and science at the 12th Art in STEM exhibition at the Dirac Science Library today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Community members can view works made with microscopes and paints and vote online or in person, with a people’s choice award announced tomorrow. - ➤ Leon County’s February jobs report shows an unemployment rate of 4.9% with 158,654 residents employed and a workforce rising to 166,912 from January’s 156,764 employed and 165,083 total; year-over-year, February saw 1,220 fewer jobs than last February + the data points to a gradual labor market shift. - ➤ Former athlete Ashton Henderson hosts the Tallahassee Dream Summit to help high school athletes explore careers beyond sports. The one-day event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Lincoln High School on Friday, July 24 — registration opens May 4 for up to 150 students. Tallahassee Democrat
- ➤ FSU professor Orenda Johnson received the Distinguished Teacher Award for her focus on student learning, and she will be celebrated today at the Faculty Awards Celebration (held on campus). Florida State University

- ➤ Dry air and gusty winds continue raising wildfire risks statewide and Tallahassee faces a 9.6-inch rain deficit. The local National Weather Service office advises residents to avoid outdoor fires (especially with today’s gusty forecasts). Tallahassee Democrat
- ➤ The National Weather Service issued a fire weather watch for 27 counties yesterday as Florida faced one of its worst droughts, and 33 counties received red flag warnings as over 100 wildfires burned nearly 12,000 acres. - ➤ Dave Lang, Leon County's longest-serving clerk of court, died Sunday, Apr. 19 after a long battle with cancer. In March, the Tallahassee City Commission named a street section beside the county courthouse in his honor — a tribute to his enduring impact on local history. WFSU Public Media
- ➤ Gov Ron DeSantis announced that Tallahassee's airport and part of College Avenue will be renamed to honor FSU leaders Bobby Bowden and John Thrasher — signage is already up at the airport and upgrades for the road are planned soon. FSU News

- ➤ Tallahassee runner Jack McDermott finished his 25th consecutive Boston Marathon on Monday, April 20 by completing the 26.2-mile course in 3 hours 27 minutes in near-perfect weather. He is now eligible for the Quarter Century Club after running 276 marathons overall. Tallahassee Democrat
- ➤ Florida State softball star Isa Torres returned from an eight-game concussion absence on March 20 and recorded 16 consecutive hits with a .610 average at Coastal Carolina (showing strong offense and defense). - ➤ Florida State baseball swept the Fighting Irish over the weekend by winning games with a combined score of 26 to 11 at Dick Howser Stadium. The team carries its momentum into today's road game at 6 p.m. at Harmon Stadium in Jacksonville as they face University of North Florida. FSU News
