COMMUNITY NEWS

  • FSU and Tallahassee marked the close of the 2025 to 2026 academic year with many milestones in sports, business openings, and campus upgrades. The achievements brought hope and unity to the community.  FSU News
  • Today SportsAbility and Southern Trailriders offered horseback rides along a short trail for special needs riders, with volunteers on hand to help them stay steady. The event was sponsored by First Florida Credit Union and provided a fun, safe riding experience for everyone.  WCTV
  • WEE Diaper Bank is seeking about (5,000 sqft) of additional space to expand diaper relief and support services for local families as demand grows. It will soon serve a 14-county area to help those struggling to afford basics.  ABC 27

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Le Peep, a beloved brunch spot, opened March 9 in Tallahassee and quickly drew long lines. Diners praise its creative menu — from rock lobster scramble to stuffed French toast — and the restaurant earned a 4.6-star rating.  FSU News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • FSU coach Mike Norvell will host the All Pro Dad Experience today at Doak Campbell Stadium. The event runs from 9 a.m. to noon and will include interactive football drills and on-field games for fathers and their children, with a $35 admission fee per family.  Tallahassee Democrat
  • FSU student Julia Stephens has joined NASA’s Psyche Inspired program to create space-themed artwork that explains the mission to visit Psyche. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Weather experts in Tallahassee have explained hurricane terms such as watch, warning, and tropical cyclone to help residents prepare for the upcoming Atlantic season starting June 1 — they urge citizens to build supplies, check insurance, and know evacuation zones.  Tallahassee Democrat

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Leon County has extended its burn ban until May 1 due to worsening drought and fire risks in the Big Bend — county officials noted residents largely followed the order. The measure comes amid statewide wildfire concerns and follows an original declaration on March 27.  Tallahassee Democrat
  • Trulieve CEO Kim Rivers celebrated federal approval that reclassified medical marijuana to Schedule III, even as state regulators check water quality at the company’s Jefferson County Megatron facility—local officials will meet Tuesday, April 28 to discuss concerns.  Tallahassee Democrat

SPORTS NEWS

  • Chiles won the Flag Football 3A District 2 tournament with a 51-0 win over Wakulla on April 20 and a 26-0 shutout of Lincoln at Stan Goldstein Field on April 22, advancing to the postseason.  Tallahassee Reports
  • On Thursday, the Chiles cheer squad visited the WCTV studio for Champ Chat. Reporters noted that the all-girls team won its first FHSAA Class 1A state title while the varsity coed team became UCA national champions, and the teams have ranked in the top three at state over the last decade.  WCTV
