- ➤ On Saturday the 11th, Honor Flight Tallahassee returned from a trip to Washington, D.C. where 66 veterans and their guardians visited memorials for World War II, Korea and Vietnam plus Arlington National Cemetery before enjoying a welcome home party in Tallahassee. WCTV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ FSU student Reese Gourley, who survived the April 17 shooting at FSU, shared a statement through her attorney thanking the police, doctors and community as she recovers in Pennsylvania while honoring victims Robert Morales and Tiru Chabba. WCTV
- ➤ A deputy shot a suspect in an officer-involved incident on Sunday, April 27th in Greenville after responding to a 911 call about a gathering on Main Street—police recovered a handgun and an AR-15 style rifle, and the person was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital where their condition remains unknown. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A state senator offered a last-minute amendment that could limit a proposed oil drilling ban along the Apalachicola River to rural counties only, and local shellfish groups warn the industry could suffer if Gov. DeSantis does not renew the rural designation before the bill returns to his desk. The ban is set to take effect on July 1—just before the rural designation expires on July 8. Tallahassee Democrat

- ➤ Brookwood's golf team will tee off today (8:30 a.m.) at Glen Arven (in Rose City) for the AAA state championships as the Warriors, who won state three of the last four years, plan to use the same top four players from last year's win. WCTV
- ➤ FAMU baseball hosted Grambling State and won the series two to one from April 25th to April 27th, snapping their losing streak of five games—defensive standout William Brown made key plays.
