BUSINESS NEWS

  • Gray Media has reached an agreement with DISH to restore local TV stations owned by Gray, including WCTV, effective immediately so Tallahassee viewers can once again enjoy news, weather & sports on their preferred lineup.  WCTV
  • Coosh Willis, owner of Coosh's Bayou Rouge, celebrated his restaurant's 25th anniversary today (a local favorite) and reflected on its growth and support from the community.  Tallahassee Democrat

EDUCATION NEWS

  • 18-year-old Demetria Coley became FSU College of Nursing’s youngest graduate on May 2 and will pursue NICU nursing after clinicals at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare, crediting family support & early ambition for her success.  FSU News
  • Florida State University celebrated its spring 2026 graduating class Friday and Saturday at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center, awarding over 8,900 degrees (including an honorary degree for alumna Sara Blakely). Ceremonies featured renowned speakers from business, military service, and government, highlighting resilience, leadership, and service.  Florida State University
  • Over 900 students earned degrees Saturday at Florida A&M University’s Al Lawson Center in Tallahassee, with ceremonies at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. that celebrated graduates and their families (spurring future academic dreams).  WCTV
  • The FSView announced its new 2026-2027 editor board, led by Justice Ulrich (a rising junior in finance) and Salette Cambra, to continue expanding FSU student news coverage. They will launch an investigative team this fall and form republication partnerships to bring more local stories to Tallahassee.  FSU News
  • Teacher Appreciation Week runs from May 4 through May 8 and offers teachers freebies and discounts at national chains such as Chipotle, Whataburger, and McAlister's Deli — some deals require a valid ID.  Tallahassee Democrat

SPORTS NEWS

  • Maclay’s girls tennis team, composed of underclassmen, went undefeated in regular season play by winning the City championship, district & regional tournaments. They reached the top eight at the state tournament in Orlando on May 2 and finished with a 17-1 record.  Tallahassee Democrat
  • Noah Chavez powered Chiles to a 1-0 win over Lincoln in game 2 of the Class 5A regional semifinals, extending the series to three. The team now prepares for their next matchup.  Tallahassee Democrat
