- ➤ More than 100 girls ran a 5K in Southwood on May 3—finishing the season of the Panhandle Girls on the Run program that serves 3rd to 8th graders. The event taught them how to set goals, overcome challenges and make positive impacts in their community. WFSU Public Media
- ➤ On May 3, about 600 runners and walkers met at Tom Brown Park to raise money for the Animal Shelter Foundation that supports the shelter as it rebuilds its kennels for homeless animals. - ➤ Hurricane Preparedness Week runs from May 4-10 to help Tallahassee residents get ready for tropical cyclones before hurricane season begins June 1. - ➤ The cleared lot for the new Tallahassee Police Department headquarters will start building work in August or September and is planned for completion in late 2026 — the 216,000-square-foot building will include a firearm training facility, classrooms and fleet storage.
