  • Tallahassee's TC Bakery owner Jennifer Young will attend a Shark Tank Open Casting Call in Kansas City on May 15 to pitch her cheesecakes and specialty cakes to investors, with fans invited to try a special deal before the audition + she plans to use the exposure to expand her business.  Tallahassee Democrat

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State Sen. Jennifer Bradley said she will change condo rules to ease inspections and lower costly repairs for older buildings—aiming to help residents manage rising expenses. The legislature passed the Tristin Murphy Act on April 15 to reform mental health care in jails after a case of repeated incarceration ended in a man's tragic death.  CBS News

  • Florida State softball earned the fifth overall seed in the NCAA Tournament and will host the Tallahassee Regional at JoAnne Graf Field this weekend with Auburn, South Florida and Robert Morris scheduled to play. The Seminoles will open the double elimination regional on Friday at 2:30 p.m. against Robert Morris — additional details will follow.  WCTV
  • Lincoln baseball advanced to the FHSAA 5A state final four on Saturday evening after defeating Niceville by a score of 12 to 3 in the winner-take-all game; a five-run third inning powered the win (securing their final four berth).  WCTV
  • FAMU men’s golf team coached by Mike Rice won the SWAC Championship on April 16 and now will compete in the NCAA Tournament Tallahassee Regional at Seminole Legacy Golf Club beginning today. The team won by six strokes — earning five All-SWAC honors as they prepare to face top teams in a three day stroke play contest.  Tallahassee Democrat
  • FAMU softball lost to Jackson State by a score of 3 to 1 in the SWAC Championship game on May 11 at Gulfport Sportsplex in Gulfport+ending the Rattlers' bid for a first title. The team finished the season with a 28 to 20 record+marking its second consecutive championship loss to Jackson State under first-year head coach Brittany Beall.  Tallahassee Democrat
  • Local archers celebrated National Archery Day by attending an indoor clinic at The Bow Range (4098 N. Monroe St.) on Saturday May 10; vice president Adam Gaiser and owner Mike Beasley explained how the sport evolved from an ancient hunting tool to a modern recreational activity for all ages.  WCTV
  • The Seminoles and Rattlers are preparing for the 2025 NCAA Tallahassee Regional golf tournament today at Seminole Legacy Golf Club, where 14 teams will compete for a spot in the NCAA Championships—second-seeded Florida State and fourteen-seeded Florida A&M are among the contenders.  WCTV
