  • FPL urged customers to prepare for hurricane season today by planning ahead for power outages and medical needs while announcing that upgrades to its grid—such as burying power lines—will help restore service faster during storms; the company directs locals to visit FPL.com/Storm for emergency planning tips.  WFLA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • House and Senate leaders reached an agreement Friday night that clears the way for lawmakers to return to Tallahassee Tuesday to start negotiating a balanced budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1. The framework includes a $900 million commercial lease tax cut — $350 million in sales tax exemptions for Florida families, $250 million in debt reduction and $750 million in yearly payments into a state rainy-day fund.  WFSU

  • FSU baseball players Link Jarrett, Drew Faurot and Jamie Arnold talked about their regional win and said strong teamwork and good plays helped win the game—giving hope for future matchups.  Tallahassee Democrat
  • Florida State baseball returned to Dick Howser Stadium for day two of the Tallahassee Regional when it played Mississippi State on May 31 at 6 p.m. on ESPN2.
