- ➤ Tallahassee will offer a busy weekend with live music, art shows, and food events — including Mayday Parade’s 20th anniversary concert at The Moon on Saturday, June 7, and the 20th Tomato Feastival at Goodwood Museum and Gardens on Sunday. - ➤ The Tallahassee Film Society in partnership with the Tallahassee Jewish Federation will show the documentary 'Art Spiegelman: Disaster Is My Muse' that gives a close look at the life of the famous graphic novelist. It will play at the IMAX Challenger Learning Center, 200 South Duval St.—with screenings on Saturday, June 7 at 3 p.m. and Sunday, June 8 at 5 p.m. and tickets costing $11 for general admission and $9 for members or students. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Ron DeSantis and the state Cabinet will consider two proposed deals on Tuesday that will conserve about 76,000 acres in Baker, Bradford and Union counties — the first deal will spend nearly $118 million to purchase a conservation easement for 61,389 acres from Weyerhaeuser Forest Holdings while the second will spend over $24 million to secure a 14,743 acre easement from Blackbottom Holdings. - ➤ The Florida House and Senate voted on Thursday to extend the legislative session until June 18 so lawmakers can work on a balanced budget before the new fiscal year begins. State leaders said they aim to cut wasteful spending and address issues like affordable housing, Medicaid and SNAP funding — efforts that may bring more fiscal restraint. WFLA
