COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Godby High School mourns the loss of former athletes Brittney Delva and Brandon Holifield. Delva died in a single-vehicle crash in El Paso on June 1 and Holifield passed away in Tallahassee on May 16 — both earned All-Big Bend honors, with Holifield’s funeral held on May 31 and a memorial service planned for Delva later this month.  Tallahassee Democrat

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A federal appeals court rejected Attorney General James Uthmeier’s request for a stay on a new Florida law that criminalizes undocumented immigration. The judges said Uthmeier did not meet the tests for a stay—emphasizing that federal immigration law takes precedence—so the district court’s injunction remained in effect.  Tallahassee Democrat

SPORTS NEWS

  • Florida State baseball faces elimination as it prepares for game two against Oregon State at 9 p.m. from Goss Stadium — after a game one loss that saw a blown three-run lead and extra innings — and the Seminoles will rely on starter Jamie Arnold, who posted 13 strikeouts in a recent regional win, to extend their season.  Tallahassee Democrat
  • After losing a 10-inning game on Friday by a 5-4 score, Florida State had to win game two Saturday night at Corvallis—ace pitcher Jamie Arnold was set to start to force a decisive game three.  Tallahassee Democrat
