- ➤ Godby High School mourns the loss of former athletes Brittney Delva and Brandon Holifield. Delva died in a single-vehicle crash in El Paso on June 1 and Holifield passed away in Tallahassee on May 16 — both earned All-Big Bend honors, with Holifield’s funeral held on May 31 and a memorial service planned for Delva later this month. - ➤ A federal appeals court rejected Attorney General James Uthmeier’s request for a stay on a new Florida law that criminalizes undocumented immigration. The judges said Uthmeier did not meet the tests for a stay—emphasizing that federal immigration law takes precedence—so the district court’s injunction remained in effect. Tallahassee Democrat
