  • The Annual Tomato FEASTival on Sunday, June 8 brought live music and busy lines for local farmers as small farms saw more business through the Red Hills Small Farm Alliance website. Organizer Louise Devine said the online market now supports over 100 farms—helping farmers get started—and boosts local produce sales amid uncertain imported produce.  WFSU Public Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Tallahassee is planning a $1.2B FY2026 budget that may raise the fire service fee by $4.86 per month for average residents to cover costs for a new station, extra staff and a union contract. City officials will review the proposal at a commission workshop on June 11 in City Commission chambers at City Hall—this meeting will help shape the final spending plan.  Tallahassee Democrat

  • Efforts are underway today to address Tallahassee's nursing shortage as experts point to poor student preparation and a lack of nursing educators. Schools and hospitals are offering scholarships, training programs, and career academies—steps that aim to boost local nurse retention.  WFSU

  • Florida State’s track and field team is sending 11 individual athletes & three relay teams to the NCAA National Championships next Wednesday.  WCTV
  • Florida State baseball's season ended Sunday when Oregon State hit five home runs to beat the Seminoles 14-10 in the NCAA Super Regional in Corvallis — the Beavers scored 13 runs in two innings while FSU's pitching faltered and left the team unable to stage a comeback.  Tallahassee Democrat
  • Florida State baseball faces Oregon State tonight at 9 p.m. at Goss Stadium in Corvallis in a winner-take-all super regional game—Wes Mendes will pitch for the Seminoles while James DeCremer starts for the Beavers—hoping a win sends FSU to Omaha for the first time in consecutive seasons since 1999 and 2000.  Tallahassee Democrat
