GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Ron DeSantis announced on June 10 that the state awarded an extra $3.5 million to help Point Blank Enterprises expand in Wakulla County. • House and Senate budget leaders met Monday to finalize a state spending plan that sets aside $25 million for the Job Growth Grant Fund—lawmakers are also debating cuts in vacant state positions. • Florida officials warned that rioting during protests against ICE raids would face criminal penalties (under a 2021 law) after violent demonstrations in Los Angeles and a protest near the Capitol followed an ICE raid at a Tallahassee construction site in late May.
