- ➤ Troopers found the white SUV that struck and killed a cyclist (aged 68) on Highway 20 at the Blue Jay Lane intersection shortly after (9 p.m.) on June 8 and identified a person of interest. Tallahassee Democrat
- ➤ Donna Adelson appeared in court on June 13th for a defense motion hearing to change the trial venue regarding her involvement in the 2014 murder-for-hire case of Dan Markel—she faces ongoing legal proceedings. Tallahassee Democrat
- ➤ An 18-year-old Tamarick Jackson was charged with first-degree murder and grand theft after he allegedly shot Barry Corker Jr. and stole his white Chevrolet Camaro on May 9, and he turned himself in on Thursday at Gadsden County Jail. WCTV
- ➤ Local attorney Tim Jansen said jury selection for Donna Adelson’s murder trial will proceed in Leon County on August 19—he argued that despite media influence and the defense's request for a change of venue, Florida law supports picking an impartial jury locally. Tallahassee Democrat

- ➤ Florida State University alumnus Daniel Sutter earned the Wallace Stegner Fellowship in Creative Writing from Stanford — one of 10 awards chosen among nearly 2,000 applicants — and will begin his two-year residency in Fall to develop his novel projects while receiving a $75,000 per year stipend. - ➤ Florida lawmakers reached a budget agreement for 2025-26 that sets aside nearly $560 million for special projects and includes a 2% raise for state workers. A final vote is scheduled for June 16 — after the required 72-hour cooling-off period — and Governor DeSantis will sign if the measure passes by June 30. Tallahassee Democrat
- ➤ Maria Isidro, a 52-year-old nanny and preacher's wife, was unexpectedly detained and deported from Tallahassee after her routine immigration check on June 3 and was taken to Matamoros on June 11, ending her 27-year stay in the U.S. Her family in Live Oak is preparing legal action while Rep. Kat Cammack's office is reviewing her case & working with federal agencies. Tallahassee Democrat
- ➤ On June 11, Tallahassee city commissioners voted 3–2 to stop using eminent domain to buy land for a Circle K in Welaunee—residents said they were worried about noise, traffic, and safety near homes—and Mayor Dailey said he will work with Circle K on alternative plans. Tallahassee Democrat
- ➤ The Florida Supreme Court told The Florida Bar to stop appointing members to the ABA House of Delegates because it said the appointments conflict with the Bar's neutral role—Chief Justice Muñiz said the ABA’s political stances prompted the request and the Bar will revise its policies as directed.
