- ➤ Safe Families for Children is hosting community days at Maryland Oaks Crossing to get volunteers to repair 17 transitional housing units that help families leave homelessness—an effort aimed at easing housing instability. The event runs on Saturday, June 28th from 9:00 a.m. to noon. ABC 27

- ➤ Ology Brewing celebrates its 8th anniversary today as it launches a crowdfunding campaign on WeFunder to let locals invest as little as $100 and help raise $800K for expansion (upgrading equipment and adding sales staff for Southeastern growth). The brewery will also release special anniversary beers including a double IPA, an imperial Berliner, and a key lime pie creme liqueur to mark the celebration. Tallahassee Democrat

- ➤ Tallahassee Police arrested Robert Lawrence, 42, after he allegedly attacked a man with a 12-inch kukri-style knife in a transient encampment near the Circle K on North Monroe Street overnight Thursday — the victim, who received multiple cuts, was taken to a local hospital and is stable. WCTV
- ➤ Four people from Tallahassee were sentenced for a drug trafficking case that moved over 2,000 pounds of marijuana in North Florida—Tyquan Watson and his half-brother Cleveland Blackshear got 10-year prison terms while Dezaneil Cosby received 5 years and Shambresha Turner was given time served. - ➤ Juneteenth is now a federal and state holiday while Tallahassee continues to mark May 20 as the day Union troops enforced the Emancipation Proclamation. The announcement came at the historic Knott House near the Capitol following the city's celebration last month of 160 years of freedom for enslaved Floridians. WFSU Public Media
- ➤ Make Music Day is a global celebration of free music events and will take place tomorrow, June 21, on the summer solstice. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Leon County Sheriff’s Office asked for a $10 million budget increase to raise wages, hire new deputies and add more overtime in its detention facility—where one deputy sometimes watches 94 detainees. The county commission has already advanced the proposal and will vote on it on July 8 to help address capacity and safety issues. WCTV
