- ➤ Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier proposed Missy's Law after 5-year-old Melissa Mogle died on May 19 in Southwood; her stepfather Daniel Spencer—who was on bond following a child sex crime conviction—allegedly murdered her, and the law aims to stop judges from releasing dangerous offenders before sentencing. - ➤ A 25-year-old man was arrested and charged with murder and aggravated child abuse after a one-year-old child died from severe head injuries at a home on the 1700 block of Saxon Street—police said the child had been left in his care. Tallahassee Democrat

- ➤ The Children’s Services Council of Leon County approved a $163,125 grant to Family Promise of the Big Bend’s HOPE Emergency Shelter to expand services for homeless families with young children. The funding will create a dedicated Transition Coordinator role and offer trauma-informed mental health services to help families stay stable after leaving shelter —supporting school readiness and long-term emotional healing. - ➤ Today, the Tallahassee Police Department was awarded $73,450 from the Project Safe Neighborhoods Grant Program to reduce crime in high-risk areas — the funds will help boost local safety efforts. WCTV
- ➤ Industry groups NetChoice and the Computer & Communications Industry Association filed a 30-page document with the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Friday—arguing that the temporary block on Florida’s social-media law should continue as the legal fight over restrictions on minors unfolds, saying that parents should decide what is appropriate for their children.
