- ➤ Tallahassee man Deric Young, 25, has been charged with murder and aggravated child abuse after confessing to punching a 1-year-old while in his care — he missed his initial court appearance and is set to appear today. WCTV

- ➤ A group of Florida State University students and staff returned home from Israel today — their return delayed by the escalating conflict with Iran — and are now safely in Tallahassee. WCTV
- ➤ FSU Classics professor Andrea De Giorgi has been named a Getty Scholar for 2025 to 2026 for his work in Roman archaeology and visual culture — he is the first FSU faculty member to receive the award. Florida State University
- ➤ Florida A&M University named Oluwamodupe Oloyede as the first female head drum major of the Marching 100 today+ she will lead the band and break a long tradition with her new role. WCTV

- ➤ Garrett Galvin, known as the 'yoink guy' for grabbing reptiles, often films his encounters with invasive snakes in the Everglades while searching for a rumored 20-foot python—he uses his social media reach to boost awareness of the state's fight against these pests. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission will host its 10-day Python Challenge starting July 11 at 12:01 a.m. to encourage hunters to help control the python population with a $10,000 prize for the top participant. - ➤ The City of Tallahassee broke ground on Tuesday, June 24 for its first city-owned electric vehicle charging station near the corner of South Adams and West Van Buren. City Manager Reese Goad said the station features 4 level III DC chargers at 30 cents per kilowatt-hour and announced a second station will be built in a new park on Orange Avenue—it is the first step toward a network of 5 stations around town.
