- ➤ The Griffin Heights Neighborhood Association held a workshop Tuesday evening for community organizations, nonprofits and businesses interested in applying for small grants to address local needs + the session explained how the grants could fund projects in the community. WCTV

- ➤ Linn Ann Griffin, co-owner of Tallahassee’s oldest Black-owned funeral home — known for caring for grieving families — died Tuesday morning at 82. She is survived by three sons, three grandsons and one granddaughter, with a viewing on Sunday, June 29 at 629 W. Brevard St and a funeral service at noon on June 30 at Bethel AME Church. - ➤ Residents in Tallahassee are urged to prepare early for a hurricane since officials warn that storms can develop quickly near the coast and leave little time to react—hurricane preparedness includes checking evacuation zones and assembling a supplies kit during the Atlantic hurricane season from June 1 to Nov. 30. - ➤ Florida will soon send $21,253 checks to hundreds of survivors of abuse at the Dozier and Okeechobee reform schools under a $20 million reparations law. The state approved 926 applications with 13 pending, and more payments will follow—acknowledging decades of hardship. Tallahassee Democrat
- ➤ Mayor John Dailey decided to seek a third term, and the City of Tallahassee broke ground on its first city-owned electric vehicle charging station on Tuesday using the latest technology + Leon County Commissioners received an update on plans for the 2026 World Athletics Cross Country Championships at Apalachee Regional Park scheduled for January 10.
