- ➤ The Tallahassee Animal Services Center is waiving all adoption fees for Petco Love’s Florida Mega Pet Adoption event running from Friday, June 27 through Sunday, June 29. More than 50 shelters aim to help 2000 animals get adopted this weekend—visitors can meet pets like Cousteau and Eggatha at 1125 Easterwood Drive—with many animals ready for a new home. WCTV

- ➤ On June 26, a bright fireball was reported from North Florida to North Carolina—over 200 people saw the flash around noon, with one pilot near Tallahassee noting an orange glow. In Henry County, Georgia, a resident said falling debris from the sky injured a home, and officials linked the event to the Bootid meteor shower. Tallahassee Democrat

- ➤ Citizens for Government Accountability will file a lawsuit against Tallahassee, challenging the city’s method for funding its fire department. If successful — based on an appellate ruling — the action may lead to refunds of fire fees for local residents and force the city to change its funding mechanism. WCTV
- ➤ FDOT said it will add a right-turn lane for Chick-fil-A customers on Capital Circle Northeast — part of an $8.6 million plan to resurface U.S. 319. Bids will come out early next year and work will start at night to help drivers move smoothly. Tallahassee Democrat
- ➤ Tallahassee is competing in Denver for its third All-America City award during the June 27—29 event. A delegation that includes Commissioner Curtis Richardson and radio host Greg Tish is showing work like the Clean Energy Plan, the Southside Action Plan and park expansion, and winners will be announced Sunday.
