- ➤ Flea Market Tallahassee, a weekend tradition for 40 years, will close on July 27th after a January winter storm caused severe damage to vendor booths. The market’s owner, employees, and shoppers are very sad, and the Southside Storage area will remain open (vendors still get a 50% discount on rent) as plans for the site remain uncertain. - ➤ The 47th annual Swamp Stomp Music Festival is set for Saturday, July 12 from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Tallahassee Museum — a local tradition since 1979. Local favorite Hot Tamale will perform swamp rock, bluegrass, and storytelling tunes — the festival will also offer living history displays, wildlife exhibits, and an aerial adventure course. - ➤ Leon County residents will see property taxes increase as the new preliminary tax roll sets a rate of 5.4% after market values rose nearly 5% from last year. Officials said housing supply has not met demand—so property values may keep rising until inventory improves. Tallahassee Democrat
