ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A Tallahassee man was injured when two sedans and a flatbed truck collided on I-10 Thursday at about 12:30 p.m. near mile marker 251—Florida Highway Patrol said the crash began when a Madison City woman did not stay in her lane, causing his car to rotate into an oncoming truck’s path—resulting in minor injuries for the truck driver while both sedan drivers were unharmed. - ➤ Tallahassee arts groups face new cuts after the state budget set aside $21 million for arts but now funds only groups scoring 95 or above — many now receive no money. Last year, a veto of $32 million during tornado recovery worsened funding challenges and organizations are scrambling to adjust. WFSU

- ➤ Florida education leaders approved new safety measures for K-12 schools that require each school to appoint a Primary and Secondary District Threat Management Coordinator plus use a new Statewide Threat Management Portal that goes online on August 1. - ➤ The City of Tallahassee's Office of Inspector General was reaccredited after assessors found it 100% in compliance with all investigative standards—there were no recommendations for improvement. City Inspector General Dennis Sutton said the reaccreditation shows the office’s strong commitment to integrity and public service. Tallahassee Democrat
- ➤ The Tallahassee Police Department is hosting its fourth annual ‘Here for You’ summer Cool Down event—offering residents a chance to interact with officers and beat the summer heat. WCTV
- ➤ The Florida Supreme Court upheld the state's congressional maps, ruling that Black voters retained the chance to elect their representative under the 2022 redistricting plan—plaintiffs did not prove that the map violated state constitutional protections or the Equal Protection Clause. The decision leaves the current boundaries, which extend from Jacksonville to Tallahassee, in place. ABC 27
