GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ WFSU General Manager David Mullins explained that state and federal funding cuts have not affected current operations because the station received CPB dollars for this fiscal year and issues with an old transmitter caused signal interference that was later fixed. - ➤ A federal judge on Monday urged federal and state officials to provide their intergovernmental agreement to clarify who manages the Everglades detention center in Ochopee amid claims that detainees lack access to legal help. The lawsuit alleges that under the 287(g) program, over 100 detainees were removed and the case will be fast-tracked with a hearing set for Aug. 18 — a move that could reshape legal responsibilities at the facility.
