- ➤ A South Florida Asian-Fusion restaurant under the Sushi Sake brand will soon open at The Industry, a new downtown residential project near Hotel Duval. Developer Ed Murray said the upscale eatery is planned to open early 2026 and will feature 5,900 sq ft of dining space and a large outdoor courtyard — a design expected to draw local students and downtown visitors. - ➤ Students across Big Bend and South Georgia are gearing up for school with several back-to-school events planned from today through August 10, including backpack giveaways, supply drives, festivals and resource fairs — each offering school supplies, food and activities for local families. ABC 27
- ➤ Florida State University will launch the Institute for the Arts and Art Therapy with the Imprisoned in August to support healing in correctional settings—led by veteran art therapist Dave Gussak and sponsored by the Office of the Provost. - ➤ Florida A&M University is holding its summer commencement today at the Lawson Center with keynote speaker Laterras R. Whitfield and Interim President Timothy L. Beard overseeing 400 graduates, and the ceremony is livestreamed on social media. Florida State University holds three ceremonies today at the Tucker Civic Center—starting with doctoral hooding at 9 a.m. and followed by degree sessions at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. featuring speeches from trustee Jim Henderson and psychology professor Pamela Keel.
