  • Today, Tallahassee hosts its seventh annual beer festival at the Donald L. Tucker Center from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.—tickets cost $55 with proceeds benefiting United Partners for Human Services. Attendees can sample hundreds of brews from national brands to home brews and the event only admits those 21 and older.  WCTV

CRIME NEWS

  • A federal appeals court rejected Lawrence Lombardi’s request to reduce his 54-year prison sentence for planting pipe bombs at Florida A&M University in 1999—no one was injured, and the court ruled that the sentencing guidelines did not support a reduction.  WFSU
  • Donna Adelson, accused of orchestrating the 2014 murder-for-hire of her former son-in-law Dan Markel, began her final pre-trial motion hearing today with her trial set for August 19th as the judge approved reviewing raw phone data from her convicted son Charlie Adelson—raising conflict concerns and noting no further motions will be accepted after July 21st.  ABC 27

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams issued a two-week restraining order to stop further work on the 'Alligator Alcatraz' detention center near the Everglades after environmental groups and the Miccosukee Tribe said state and federal officials skipped an environmental study — halting construction until the lawsuit proceeds. State officials built the facility this summer to house up to 4,000 people — and they plan to resume work once legal challenges are resolved.  Tallahassee Reports

  • Former FSU baseball star Cal Raleigh—catcher for the Seattle Mariners—leads MLB with 42 home runs through 113 games as his power has cooled since his Home Run Derby win on July 15, though he still chases records like Aaron Judge's 62 mark.
