CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Jury selection began today in the Donna Adelson murder trial in Tallahassee as the court works to choose an impartial panel while the prosecution and defense search for jurors who will rely solely on the evidence—this trial is linked to the 2014 murder of FSU Professor Dan Markel in the Betton Hills area. - ➤ Tallahassee police responded to a 911 call on Aug. 16 at about 11:30 p.m. at Leon Arms Apartments during a robbery that turned deadly by finding a teenager dead on scene, and three teens were detained — two were later released while one remains in custody on charges unrelated to the death with no suspect identified. - ➤ Officials met in Tallahassee Monday at 1:30 p.m. to discuss Donna Adelson's upcoming trial for the 2014 murder of her ex-son-in-law Dan Markel—her daughter had filed a motion to quash a subpoena requiring her testimony. WCTV

- ➤ A national nonprofit put up four pink and white billboards near FSU and other Tallahassee locations to highlight rising antisemitism on college campuses as fall classes start and a recent incident stirred controversy. The billboards will be displayed until Nov. 10 as part of a nationwide initiative—urging schools to ensure Jewish students feel safe. Tallahassee Democrat
- ➤ Florida State University’s Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship is accepting applications for the Leon Entrepreneurship and Adversity Program that offers training, coaching and networking for entrepreneurs in the Big Bend region — covering Leon, Gadsden and Wakulla counties. The program costs $500 with scholarships available at $475 for those in need, and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until Sept. 27. Tallahassee Reports
