- ➤ On Memorial Day, 19-year-old Jeremiah Case was accidentally shot in the abdomen and underwent two surgeries at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare—he is expected to fully recover, plans to attend trade school for HVAC or welding, and now urges greater gun safety. Tallahassee Democrat

- ➤ A jury of 12 and 2 alternates was locked in after three days of questioning for 75-year-old Donna Adelson, who is accused of first-degree murder in the 2014 contract killing of FSU professor Dan Markel—opening statements began on August 21 and the trial is set to continue until September 5 before pausing for Labor Day. - ➤ Tallahassee police arrested 53-year-old Yong Jiang and 44-year-old Lian Qing Mo on Aug 20 on charges of human trafficking, with Jiang also charged with battery, after a New York visitor reported being forced to perform sexual acts at Massage in Tallahassee at 4689 North Monroe Street — court records show Jiang monitored her movements — and they are held without bond. - ➤ Court records show that Yongfeng Jiang, 53 and Lianqing Mo, 44 were taken into custody Wednesday evening for allegedly performing sexual acts on customers at a Tallahassee massage parlor—law enforcement is still investigating the incident. WCTV

- ➤ Tallahassee City Commissioner Jeremy Matlow proposed that the commission consider legal steps against state rules that force local police to work with ICE — he said the group might join South Miami’s lawsuit or start its own review, while some officials worry about state overreach.
