- ➤ Two Tallahassee teens were arrested on Friday after a 15-year-old at Godby High was found with an unloaded .45-caliber revolver and ammunition in his bag—while a Rickards High student was detained when a functional taser and pepper spray were discovered in her purse. WCTV
- ➤ Opening statements began in the trial of Donna Adelson yesterday when state attorney Sarah Kathryn Dugan presented her case—charging her with the 2014 murder-for-hire of FSU law professor Dan Markel. Tallahassee Democrat
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ FSU's Legacy Hall, the largest academic space on its extended campus, will be nearly complete by Aug 30 to house the College of Business with state-of-the-art technology and a 300-seat auditorium. Faculty and staff will move in this fall while classes begin in late January—bringing the new facility to life on West Gaines and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Tallahassee Democrat

- ➤ The Florida Department of Transportation ordered downtown Tallahassee to remove its colorful crosswalks by Sept. 3—if the city does not comply, FDOT will remove them without notice and may hold back state funds for future road art. - ➤ Florida State softball coach Lonni Alameda—currently battling breast cancer—donated $47,406 on Aug 22 to Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare Cancer Center using funds raised from custom t-shirt sales in partnership with Garnet and Gold to help cover treatment costs. Tallahassee Democrat
