Good morning, Tallahassee. Here's your local news at a glance for Saturday, the 6th of September.

CRIME NEWS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Thursday, a federal appeals court panel blocked a judge’s order to wind down operations at a state-built immigrant detention center in the Everglades, keeping the facility known as Alligator Alcatraz open—Gov. The ruling will let Florida resume sending detainees to the center as the legal fight over compliance with environmental review continues.  Tallahassee Reports
  • The FDOT sent a letter on June 30 ordering all painted crosswalks to be removed by Sept. 4 and local leaders in Tallahassee say this rule harms projects that use art to keep streets safer and more colorful—such as the Crosswalks to Classrooms project—by cutting creative designs that help kids cross safely.  FSU News

  • Florida State will host East Texas A&M today at noon at Doak Campbell Stadium after a 31-17 win over Alabama and with a 44.5-point favorite advantage, while the game airs on the ACC Network—sunny skies with high-80s are forecast.  Tallahassee Democrat
