- ➤ On Sept. 3, Tallahassee officials approved a lower property tax rate of about $881 for a $200,000 home after a dispute with Leon County over a fire fee delayed full support. Commissioner Matlow said he will reopen talks with the county before the final budget on Sept. 17 — no new fire stations or equipment will be planned until the fee issue is fixed—. - ➤ Florida’s health department said it will drop school vaccine mandates for hepatitis B, chickenpox, Hib influenza and pneumococcal diseases in about 90 days while keeping other vaccinations required for school—Florida’s surgeon general said this change gives parents the choice for their children. - ➤ FSU women’s golf is starting their 2025-26 season today at the Folds of Honor Golf Tournament after a historic 2024 campaign.
