- ➤ Charles Ronald Trammell—known to many as Henry the Radiator Man—passed away on September 5 at his daughter's home after a long life as the owner of the Tallahassee Radiator Shop and a respected figure in the antique automobile community. The family will have a brief visitation on September 13 at 4:00 p.m. at Bevis Funeral Home with a funeral service and interment to follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Tallahassee Reports

- ➤ Gadsden County Sheriff Morris Young confirmed that three people were arrested on Sept. 10 in connection with the Aug. 31 shooting of FSU football linebacker Ethan Pritchard—he was shot in the head while driving his aunt to her home in Havana and is now in critical but stable condition at Tallahassee Memorial. - ➤ The FSU School of Theatre announced single tickets for its 2025—2026 season are now on sale; the season features three musicals and two plays, starting with Sweeney Todd opening Oct. 17 at the Richard G. - ➤ At a Sept 9 meeting, the Leon County School Board approved a $647M budget that is $19M lower than last year, and Superintendent Rocky Hanna warned that if funding drops next year, changes like merging or closing schools could affect classrooms. The board also approved a three-year $180k contract to rebrand Lively Tech and selected Lincoln High student Siri Davidi as a new board member from 30 candidates—actions that mark important steps for local education. - ➤ Florida State University researchers have received a $2.3 million NSF grant to develop AI tools for managing wildfires in hurricane-prone areas of the Florida Panhandle. The four-year project led by assistant professor Yushun Dong will bring together experts in computer science, fire research, and engineering — a move that could help protect neighborhoods and roads. - ➤ The Tallahassee Police Department will begin issuing fines today for drivers speeding in school zones after a 30-day warning period in which over 2,500 letters were sent, and drivers will face a $100 penalty when cameras are active during school hours—cameras do not operate on weekends or school breaks. - ➤ On Sept. 3, FSU experts Professor Zhe He and Professor Delaney La Rosa told a House hearing how AI helps improve health care by making diagnosis faster and treatment more personal. They will hold an AI education summit on Sept. 17 to train nurses in using new technology—boosting care in both hospitals and rural clinics. Florida State University
- ➤ Tallahassee pediatrician D. Paul Robinson warned that allowing unvaccinated children in schools will risk those who cannot be vaccinated after Florida’s Surgeon General said parents may choose whether to vaccinate. He added that vaccines have nearly wiped out diseases like Hib meningitis—declaring that lower vaccination rates may let dangerous illnesses return. Tallahassee Democrat

- ➤ On Sep. 9th, two high school boys golf tournaments were held in Leon County at Capital City Country Club and Hilaman Golf Course with six schools playing. - ➤ FSU basketball coach Brooke Wyckoff, a breast cancer survivor, will be honored at the upcoming Cards for a Cure on Sept.27 as the Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare Foundation hosts the event at The Moon + she will share her journey of battling cancer while coaching a season with a record of 24 wins and 9 losses.
