- ➤ The Tallahassee Astronomical Society will host a free planetarium show called 'October Skies over Tallahassee' on Oct.4 at Fogg Planetarium—viewers will learn to find Orion and other bright sights in the sky. - ➤ Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Craig A. Gaines, a U.S. Navy veteran and FAMU football security lead, died Friday, Sept. 19 from complications after an on-field injury. His visitation is set for Sunday, Sept. 28 at Quincy’s Bradwell Mortuary and a celebration of life will be held Monday, Sept. 29 at Restoration Place Church—FAMU will honor his legacy with a pregame moment of silence today at the football game. - ➤ One year after Hurricane Helene, Taylor County nonprofit Rebuilding the American Dream has helped 79 families with $55,000 in donations to support those unable to rebuild their homes. The group will host its second annual Toast for the Coast fundraiser on Nov. 19 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Hub at Feather Oaks—featuring food, music, and a silent auction. WCTV

- ➤ The Leon County Main Library unveiled its renovated 30,000-square-foot second floor Friday, September 26th at 10:30 a.m.—featuring reservable multi-use rooms, a soundproof recording studio, and a Career Corner for workforce training. - ➤ Florida will hold its first bear hunt in a decade this December, with over 163,000 applications competing for limited tags to harvest one bear per permit—residents will pay $100 while non-residents pay $300.
