- ➤ Leon County leaders celebrated the new Miccosukee Community Center at the historic Concord School Building on Moccasin Gap Road, with Commissioner Bill Proctor attending the event. - ➤ FAMU President Marva Johnson apologized on behalf of FAMU for making inappropriate and offensive comments during the halftime show as ASU’s Honey Beez performed on Saturday—she said a conversation with ASU President Quinton T. - ➤ Florida State University opened its new Garnet Gaming Lounge that has 41 high-performance computers, modern and retro consoles + a dedicated tabletop gaming area where students can practice and compete. - ➤ Bernard Stevens filed on Sept. 5 to run for City Commission Seat 5 against incumbent Dianne Williams-Cox and said he will bring transparency, stability and stewardship to city government. Stevens, whose name also appeared on the 2024 ballot for Seat 2 where he received about 1,403 votes, aims to bridge the divide between county and city government—he expects to gain greater support this election.
