- ➤ Families in Tallahassee will attend the Walk to Remember event on Oct. 9 at Saint Paul's United Methodist Church—1700 N. Meridian Road from 5:30 to 8 p.m. to honor infants lost in pregnancy or childbirth with a free dinner, remembrance quilts, support tables, and a candlelight walk around Lake Ella. - ➤ Veteran football broadcaster Lee Corso was awarded the Governor’s Medal of Freedom on Oct 4 by Gov. DeSantis in Tallahassee—he is recognized for his long career in college football and his time with FSU. This honor marks one of Florida's highest civilian awards for contributions to the state. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A proposed merger between Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare and Florida State University is under review after a public hearing on Oct 1, and another hearing is scheduled for Oct 22 to gather community input. The proposed deal may shift assets worth $575 million—$700 million and change how healthcare works in our city. Tallahassee Democrat

- ➤ The Florida State women’s soccer team beat the University of Miami by a 3 to 0 shutout at the Seminole Soccer Complex on Oct. 3. Head coach Brian Pensky said the team rotated players as they will prepare to face Notre Dame on Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. FSU News
- ➤ The Seminoles will play the Hurricanes later this week in a college football game that experts say will be close—Florida State lost 46 to 38 at Virginia last week while Miami is 4 to 0 and favored. Analysts say the key is which team is stronger on the line. Tallahassee Democrat
- ➤ Ethan Pritchard, a freshman linebacker from FSU who was shot on Aug. 31, is making progress in his recovery as he now breathes on his own and has opened his eyes. He remains in the hospital after being ambushed in Havana Heights Apartments—his GoFundMe nears its goal while his family, teammates and coach Mike Norvell show strong support. Tallahassee Democrat
- ➤ The Florida State versus Miami football rivalry game was played Saturday, Oct. 4, at 7:30 p.m. on ABC at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee with partly cloudy skies and a stray shower. Miami was a slight 4-point favorite—FSU entered the game with a 3-1 record after a double-overtime loss to Virginia, and fans experienced a gameday timeline that started when stadium gates opened at 5:30 p.m. Tallahassee Democrat
- ➤ Florida State football released its final injury report before Saturday’s game against Miami at Doak Campbell Stadium and confirmed that defensive back Ashlynd Barker is out — a key loss for their defense.
