- ➤ The Down Syndrome Foundation of Tallahassee said it will host its annual Buddy Walk on Saturday to bring the community together and raise awareness about Down syndrome. City and Leon County leaders said the county will have the option to purchase fire stations 10—15 at a discounted rate when the current firefighting contract ends in 2028. WCTV

- ➤ Florida’s tax collections in August reached $3.874 billion, exceeding forecasts by 3.4% and adding $127.1 million more than expected, a report from the Legislature’s Office of Economic & Demographic Research said. Sales-tax receipts were $3.012 billion while state investment, insurance, and documentary stamp taxes also surpassed predictions. Tallahassee Reports

- ➤ Leon County high school students will have their school days extended by 10 minutes starting October 14—adding needed instructional time after past weather closures left seniors short of required hours. - ➤ FAMU students Xaria Miller and Yerimiah Evans organized a protest outside the Historic Capitol on Oct. 4 at 1:00 p.m.—raising issues about HBCU death threats, racial profiling and immigrant rights following Trey Reed’s death.
