  • Pulitzer-prize winning writer Gilbert King released his new book Bone Valley— a work detailing Leo Schofield's wrongful 36-year imprisonment after his wife was murdered even though another man later confessed. Schofield signed copies and spoke about his story at FSU Law School on October 15— and he now is writing his own book about his ordeal.  WFSU

  • Maclay captured its first district title after beating North Florida Christian 43—20 on Friday night; the Marauders improved to 7—1 and set a historic milestone in the program.   • Florida A&M linebacker Nay'Ron Jenkins was injured in the fourth quarter of the homecoming win against Alcorn State on Oct. 18 when he was carted off the field—head coach James Colzie said he hopes Jenkins recovers soon.  Tallahassee Democrat
  • The Florida A&M Rattlers will face the Alcorn State Braves today at Bragg Memorial Stadium with kickoff at 4 p.m. They aim to end a two-game losing streak — the team lost 14-56 to Florida Atlantic Owls on Sept. 6 and 42-14 to Alabama State on Sept. 27.  WCTV
  • Florida A&M reinstated quarterback RJ Johnson III as the starter for its homecoming game against Alcorn State held Saturday, Oct. 18 at 4 p.m. on Ken Riley Field at Bragg Memorial Stadium—he had been benched last week after starting the season's first four games.  Tallahassee Democrat
