- ➤ Tallahassee Animal Services is hosting a pupkin event on Oct. 25 and 26 where available dogs including Wednesday, Snow, Scampy, Penelope, Ken, Jammer, Jackson, and Allie Gator will be up for adoption—giving local pet lovers a chance to find a new companion. Tallahassee Democrat
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A fire closed Los Compadres restaurant on West Pensacola Street late Monday morning—firefighters from Tallahassee fought heavy smoke and flames, shut part of the road, and reported no injuries while the State Fire Marshal's Office began investigating the cause. WFSU
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Leon High School recorded 36 arrests in the 2024-25 school year—a more than doubling from 17 attributed to rising threats and violence, and district officials are considering metal detectors at school entrances following several weapons-related incidents. Tallahassee Democrat

- ➤ FSU’s Student Life Cinema put on a Rocky Horror shadow cast with White Mouse Productions to mark 20 years of the event and 50 years since the film came out. - ➤ Average gas in Florida hit a nearly two-year low at $2.90 on Sunday, down 2 cents from the previous week+ AAA said strong global oil supplies and a seasonal drop in gasoline demand have kept price changes steady. - ➤ Florida State University President Richard McCullough has named Jeremy Slaga as the institution’s first vice president and chief clinical operations officer for FSU Health—he will start his role on January 5 and work closely with regional healthcare partners to expand clinical opportunities. - ➤ FSU experts say financial scams are using both old and new tricks such as AI voice calls and lottery scams to target older adults who often have less skepticism about quick offers. - ➤ On October 23, the CRA Board will consider funding $5 Million for the Meridian Street PASS Project to improve pedestrian connectivity and street safety from Orange Avenue to Magnolia Drive. The project will construct a new sidewalk, multiuse path, ditch enclosures, and street tree plantings to support safe transit access for the Southside+residents. Tallahassee Reports

- ➤ Florida State quarterback Tommy Castellanos was injured in the fourth quarter of a 20-13 loss to Stanford when he was hit during a drive and did not return to the game. - ➤ Florida A&M quarterback RJ Johnson III and kicker Daniel Porto earned SWAC weekly honors for standout plays against Alcorn State in a 33-28 homecoming win, with Johnson completing 26 of 38 passes for 323 yards and Porto making four field goals. - ➤ The Florida High girls volleyball team won 3 to 0 against Episcopal School of Jacksonville in the FHSAA Class 3A quarterfinal match and improved their 20 to 5 record with young leaders from the team.
