- ➤ Florida State University College of Music graduate student Cayden Miller was selected for a euphonium position with the United States Navy Band and will begin his career in 2026 after completing his degree and training—his competitive win underscores FSU’s strong track record in developing professional musicians. - ➤ FSU now has a new campus celebrity as a Nigerian dwarf goat named S'mores, seen in a jersey, has gone viral after a Tallahassee State College freshman brought him to campus to reconnect with ancestral health traditions—students have raised concerns about his living space. The pet owner said he will move to a house with a large backyard this weekend so S'mores can have more room. FSU News
- ➤ Florida State University's Jennifer Proffitt (a media literacy expert) said schools must boost media literacy programs so students can better spot misleading information amid growing digital challenges. - ➤ Florida State University's Board of Trustees will extend President Richard McCullough’s contract when the Board of Governors reviews it next year, keeping his leadership in place past his initial expiration on Aug.31, 2026. - ➤ Today, the American Legion Hall at Lake Ella hosts the Veterans Day community breakfast—Operation Thank You—to honor local veterans and their sacrifices, with free legal help and benefits available through county programs. - ➤ Leon County Government said that Tallahassee will host the World Athletics Cross Country Championships at Apalachee Regional Park on January 10, 2026 and more than 500 runners will compete in the main race and four fun runs — a medal designed by Olympian Rafeeq Curry shows Florida’s rivers, coastal hills and native heritage. - ➤ FAMU football will try to finish with a 5-5 record when it faces Alabama A&M on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Louis Crews Stadium in Huntsville—recent wins have boosted the team's confidence after a 1-4 start and coach James Colzie said players are determined to end this season strong. - ➤ The Chiles volleyball team won its second FHSAA 5A state championship on Nov. 8 after defeating Archbishop McCarthy 25—15, 25—19, and 25—23 in a hard-fought three-set match, finishing a season with an 81—8 record over three years. Tallahassee Reports
- ➤ Daniel Berger returned to the PGA Tour in January after a 19-month break caused by a back injury that led him to withdraw from the U.S. Open in July 2022. He played in key events in 2024 and 2025 before a broken right ring finger sidelined him at the BMW Championship—he is now preparing for a strong 2026 season and hopes to join the Presidents Cup team.
