- ➤ Local groups in Tallahassee are hosting Thanksgiving dinners and food drives this holiday season to support community members in need. Events include Project Annie’s dinner on Nov. 27 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 625 W. Fourth Ave, Community Thanksgiving at the American Legion at Lake Ella from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Mount Zion’s meal at Walker Ford Community Center on Thanksgiving Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., a Second Harvest turkey drive on Nov. 20 with distribution on Nov. 22, Friendsgiving at The Sound Bar on Nov. 27, and a Salvation Army dinner for college students today from 6 to 8 p.m.—volunteers and food donors are welcomed. - ➤ Willis Trueblood Jr.—18—will make his plea at a January 5 hearing for his role in the fatal hit-and-run that killed FSU student Ellie Sims on April 29, after he fled the scene and was released on bond with restrictions against driving or contacting the victim’s family. FSU News

- ➤ The student-run Diverse World Fashion magazine hosted its fall runway show on Nov. 14 titled 'Threads of Time' that took the audience through more than 10 fashion eras — stylists blended historic looks with modern trends to express creative ideas. FSU News
- ➤ Two legendary musical acts are set to perform at Cascade Park's Adderley Amphitheater next year. Toto will play on February 26th and Earth, Wind & Fire will headline the Word of South Festival on April 24th. WFSU Public Media

- ➤ Florida State University’s Graduate School and the Office of Graduate Fellowships and Awards announced the winners of the Graduate Student Op-Ed Competition, which received 51 submissions and honored five top entries—Savoya Joyner, Suzy Ji, Sarah Lovins Bacani, Rachel Flemming, and Athena Thai. The competition, funded by the Congress of Graduate Students, aims to highlight clear research communication among graduate students—showing the value of making complex ideas simple. - ➤ Leon County Schools approved an agreement with Capital Area Action Agency Head Start to open classrooms for over 300 kids starting in January at Hartsfield, Pineview and Sabal Palm Elementary Schools. The plan will add five more sites in August—helping pre-K students move into kindergarten while Head Start provides screenings, meals and facility use. WCTV
- ➤ Leon school district will test drones as part of a statewide pilot program to keep students safe during active shooter incidents — the drones will launch within 5 seconds from a Texas control center using a step-by-step force method. - ➤ The NAACP and Tallahassee ALERT hosted a town hall Tuesday night on the merger of FSU Health with Tallahassee Memorial Hospital—raising concerns about the rushed process and its impact on indigent care and public assets. - ➤ On Nov. 15th, at the FHSAA state meet at the Florida Aquatics Swimming and Training Center in Ocala, Chiles high school swimmer Owen Ekk won two state titles by finishing first in the 100 freestyle in 44.74 seconds and in the 200 individual medley with a personal best of 1:46.23—helping his team finish fifth overall. - ➤ Florida State men’s tennis ended its fall schedule by sending players to tournaments in Athens and Destin to get important wins — the team now faces the NCAA Championships in Orlando from Nov 18 to 23.
