- ➤ Florida launched a free Main Street app to help travelers find local businesses and events in historic Main Street communities—showing details for more than 4,000 places like restaurants, parks, and theaters. - ➤ Florida State University's international iGEM team won a gold medal at the Paris Convention Centre from Oct. 28—31 for designing proteins that help remove microplastics from the body. - ➤ Leon County has issued a burn ban starting (8 a.m.) today and set to end (11:59 p.m.) on Nov. 26 to reduce fire hazards amid an exceptional drought; county staff will recheck weather conditions on Wednesday to decide if fire pits may be allowed for Thanksgiving.
