- ➤ Tallahassee was picked as one of 34 towns to receive a national arts grant from the Levitt Foundation to bring more concerts and shows downtown over the next three years—COCA will plan events using the funding. - ➤ A new federal spending bill signed on Nov. 12 narrows hemp definitions by banning most synthesized hemp products and will limit low-THC and CBD options for Florida retailers and consumers next year—putting pressure on the booming hemp industry. Florida’s marijuana laws remain unchanged as medical use stays legal while recreational use continues to be banned. Tallahassee Democrat
- ➤ A new Florida law that passed earlier this year will allow businesses to accept gold and silver coins as legal tender beginning July 1 — a move supported by Gov. Ron DeSantis to provide economic liberty and guard against inflation. Businesses are not required to accept the coins, and it is unclear how many will add this payment option. Tallahassee Democrat
