- ➤ Tallahassee Animal Services at Tom Brown Park cares for over 5,000 animals each year and works with the Animal Shelter Foundation to provide vital care, low cost spay and neuter services, and other support programs. Donations made today are matched dollar for dollar up to $40,075 to help give vulnerable pets a second chance at life. Tallahassee Democrat
- ➤ On December 1st, Big Bend Cares, a nonprofit offering health care and housing in the Big Bend, received a $5 million grant from the Bezos Day 1 Families Fund—the largest private donation in its 40-year history. It will use the funds over the next five years to help families in shelters, hotels, cars, or outdoors move to stable housing and improved health. Tallahassee Reports
- ➤ Christmas Connection opened its doors on Sunday to give gifts, food and basic items to 500 families in seven Big Bend counties—half of whom will have their needs met by community donors while the rest shop at the warehouse. - ➤ Construction began at Champions Ranch on Dec. 1 in south Tallahassee after a ground-breaking ceremony led by Charlie and Tonja Ward and a festive performance by the Marching 100—fundraising has reached over $9 million toward a $20 million goal. - ➤ James 'Tim' Moore, the longest-serving FDLE commissioner appointed by Gov.
