  • Hundreds of families attended the 12th annual toy drive at the North Florida Fairgrounds on Sunday as the Less Fortunate Still Matters Foundation distributed about 4,500 items—such as toys, clothing, books and bicycles—to help children have gifts for the holiday season.  WCTV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • FSU and other Florida universities must now post all course syllabi (including lectures, discussions, and labs) for spring, summer and fall 2025 on a public database following a state efficiency directive.   • Leon County officials announced that Old Bainbridge Road in Tallahassee will have a temporary segmented closure until May 2026 (drivers should plan alternative routes).  WCTV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Chiles girls' basketball team beat Taylor County 50-25 on Saturday; the Timberwolves improved to 7-2 thanks to strong performances from Lainey Crisafulli (18 points) and Logan Poole (12 points).   • Florida State’s men’s basketball team lost to UMass 103-95 last Saturday at the Autonation Orange Bowl Classic in Sunrise. The team is 5-5 and will play its first true road game against Dayton tomorrow at 7 p.m.  FSU News
  • Eighth-grader Callie James stands out on Florida High’s varsity girls basketball team with a Dec. 11 win; coach Darryl Marshall said she is poised to be a top player + lead more wins as the team prepares to play Booker T. Washington in Pensacola on Friday, Dec. 19.  Tallahassee Democrat
  • Florida State football quarterbacks coach Tony Tokartz will join Buffalo as the offensive coordinator after leaving his role with coach Mike Norvell's staff, becoming the fourth assistant to depart following a 5-7 season.
