- ➤ North Florida Wildlife Center in Jefferson County invites residents to donate unsold Christmas trees as the holiday season winds down, promising to supply twice the daily browse for 30 animals while saving staff foraging time (boosting care and enrichment) at its Lamont facility. ABC 27
- ➤ Kearney Center donated gifts on Dec. 25 to homeless community members to share holiday cheer and support local families. The event reflected strong local spirit and showed community support during the festive season. WCTV
- ➤ Families enjoyed one last Christmas activity at the Redemptive Love Farm and Rescue in Miccosukee on Wednesday, Dec. 25 as they celebrated the holiday and learned about local agriculture. WCTV
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Tallahassee farmers faced a challenging year as historic January snow mixed with a fall drought that produced only 1.59 inches of rain from Sept. 1 to Nov. 30. Erica Bradley said low rainfall raised irrigation costs and affected crop quality, and she looks forward to next season’s harvest. WCTV

- ➤ Local trainer Kelvin Frazier of Kingz and Queenz Fitness advised residents to set realistic, small goals for 2026. He stressed starting with lightweight exercises and a balanced diet (80 percent of progress) will help residents build a steady fitness routine in Tallahassee. WCTV
- ➤ A boil water notice is active in the Lake Jackson area today after Talquin Electric Cooperative conducted emergency repairs due to overgrown tree roots damaging the system. Residents should boil water before use, and some water may appear discolored (from shifting sediments). WCTV

- ➤ Bobby Bowden's Killearn Estates home, bought in 1976 on Shamrock Drive North, will be featured in the Bobby Bowden Legacy Auction set for March 2026. - ➤ Saturday marked the second day of Holiday Hoopfest (a three-day high school basketball event) at Thomasville High School as local teams battled in winners and consolation brackets. WCTV
- ➤ Thomas County Schools announced a celebration for the Yellow Jackets’ 5A State Championship win (to be held at Jackets’ Nest Stadium in the coming weeks) for fans to gather and honor the achievement. WCTV
